The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins Submitted by Claire M.
Plot: The Hunger Games is about a girl named Katniss Everdeen who must participate in the Hunger Games against her will. The actual Hunger Games itself is a TV show that occurs yearly that's made to entertain the Capitol (people who live in the capital of their country) and to punish the 12 Districts for the war 74 years earlier. In the Games, kids between the ages of 12 and 18 are randomly selected to compete to the death in a mysterious arena. Katniss has to survive the Hunger Games which has 23 other hopeful tributes, and her odds are not too good.
Why Read?: This book is definitely worth reading. I love it so much because of the adventure and the characters. The characters in the books really come alive for me and I think that it's cool to see what they have to go through in order to survive.
Comments: As much as I love The Hunger Games, the series is very graphic, and at parts, it's very disturbing to read. It's very gory and bloody, but if you're okay with that kind of stuff I highly recommend it.

Why Read?: This book is worth reading even if you haven't read the entire "Divergent" series. It is entirely based on Four's view, and is not part of the series. It is a good book to read to get to know Four more and what his childhood was like.
