The media center  services all members of the student body and our resources are cherished by our entire school community.  Students are encouraged to utilize our student-centered  facility and stellar collection. As the hub of the school, the media center provides current, credible, and reliable resources in a variety of formats and levels for students’ research, study, curiosity, and pleasure reading. Mrs. Papiano, the SLMS, and Mrs. Buck and Mrs. Matarese, our wonderful library aides, are eager to assist you to positively impact your learning experience and further your academic achievement.

LOVE the Library:
  • Always show RESPECT to all people, ideas, and things in the Media Center.
  • Stop by the media center to check on your library account and keep it free from delinquencies and to say hello.
  • Please notify the library staff when you enter and leave the media center so that we may update your electronic pass.
  • Neither food nor drink is allowed anywhere in the MC except during Delsea One.
  • Food and drink is never allowed near the desktop computers, including during Delsea One.
  • Neither texting nor phone calls are permitted in the media center unless it is during Delsea One.
Attendance:
As an individual student, you may visit the Media Center during any class period with an electronic pass generated by yourself or your teacher.  Once your pass has been approved by your teacher, report directly to the Media Center's circulation desk and give your name to us so that we can check you in.

IMPORTANT: All passes must be issued by academic teachers. We do not accept passes from study hall teachers and substitutes, unless special permission is given.  The DELSEA ELECTRONIC PASS PORTAL is the OFFICIAL attendance record, and passes that are not approved by teachers may result in disciplinary action.

Circulation Procedures:
Library material may be checked out at the circulation desk using your student ID number or name. You may have four items out for a period of 20 school days.  If you would like to renew your items, please inform the library staff before or on the due date. Returned material can be dropped in the book return at the circulation desk before, during, and after school.

The due date is located in the back inside cover of the book.  If the item has not been returned or renewed by this date, it is overdue. There is a five cent fine for each day the book is overdue.  You will be notified in a variety of ways:
  • A notice will be sent to you via your English teacher.
  • You will receive a Delsea One electronic pass and must report to the media center. Failure to speak with us in the media center will result in Delsea One detention.
  • A letter will be mailed to your parent or guardian requesting return of the book or payment.
  • Electronic calls home may also be made.
  • If items are not returned, students will be unable to check out a summer reading book  or classroom novel, and seniors will not be allowed to practice and walk in graduation until they are returned and library obligations are met.
  • Students are encouraged to utilize Delsea One and their English class period to return or renew books, select materials, discuss their library account, and satisfy library obligations throughout the school year.
You will be charged for any material that is damaged or lost while checked out under your name.  You are responsible for everything you take from the media center.

NOTE: Theft of library material will result in disciplinary action.  Additionally, stealing from the library is against the law and carries at least a $100 fine if convicted.

As a member of the NJ State Library Cooperative, we are able to request material from other New Jersey libraries through an interlibrary loan service called JerseyCAT.  If our collection does not contain the item you are looking for, a request can be made online or we can help you make your request. Please allow a week for delivery.
NOTE: If a book requested through interlibrary loan is not returned, you will be fined by the lending library and may have to pay more than the cost of the book.
